THE IMPORTANCE OF A COMFORTABLE MOUTHGUARD
Over the years of working with amateur and professional athletes in a wide range of sports, we understand the importance of having a comfortable mouthguard that stays in place on the teeth. If the mouthguard is uncomfortable and not held in place, it is distracting and takes away from the protection value and enjoyment of your sport.
Traditional boil & bites can be bulky and can lose their retention value soon after purchase, thereby hindering breathing and speech. We believe that a custom fitted mouthguard should be affordable and that you should not compromise safety and the enjoyment of your sport just because it is too expensive. With the time and energy invested in your sport, a comfortable custom fitted mouthguard is well worth the small investment.

MaxxGard Combat or MaxxGard Flex: which type of mouthguard should I order? The type of mouthguard you should purchase depends on the firmness level and thickness you require for your sport. They are both very comfortable to wear and provide proper shock absorption. The MaxxGard Combat is made to absorb direct striking blows using firm plastic material. The MaxxGard Flex is made with more flexible and thinner material for non-combat sports.
-
I do sports which fall in categories for both the Combat and Flex mouthguards. Which one do I choose? We recommend the MaxxGard Combat for athletes who participate in both combat and non-combat sports. Another option would be to purchase our Combat/Flex Bundle. You can choose a mouthguard of each type and get $50 off the second mouthguard when the same impression is used for both. See our shop page for details.
-
What materials are the mouthguards made of?As a dental lab, we use non-toxic material designed for mouthguards called ethyl vinyl acetate or EVA. All materials are safety-approved and come from professional dental industry suppliers.
-
How long will the mouthguard last? How long a mouthguard lasts depends on the age of the athlete, the frequency of use and the care given. Mouthguards can last anywhere between 6 months (child athletes) to a few years (adults). If for whatever reason you feel that the mouthguard is not comfortable when you receive it, please contact us and we'll solve the issue to your satisfaction.

Do you make custom-fit mouthguards for kids? How long does the mouthguard last since their teeth are still growing?Yes, as long as you can take the impression, we can make the mouthguard. If there are missing teeth, we build a tooth on the model to create space in the mouthguard for the emerging adult tooth. You should wait for any loose teeth to fall out before taking the impression. Because of the changing mouth size, you can expect a mouthguard lifespan between 6 months to a year.
